Wolseley is nestled in the picturesque Breede River Valley. Situated 14km from Tulbagh, 15km from Ceres, 40km from Worcester and 11/2 hours drive from Cape Town, it is very accessible for visitors. Visitors can arrive in the area via any one of four scenic passes, the Nuwekloof, Bainskloof, Du Toitskloof and Michell’s Pass.

Wolseley is surrounded by the majestic Waaihoek, Witzen, Waterval and Limiet Mountains which are often covered by a blanket of snow in the winter.

The town is situated on a natural watershed that divides the Berg River, which drains towards the West Coast and the Breede River, which drains towards the southeast. All kinds of farming such as fruit, vegetables, wine, olives, wheat, dairy, sheep and cattle are present in the area.

There is an abundance of farm accommodation available ranging from farm stays, self-catering, camping to B&B’s. Things to do include hiking trais, mountain bike routes, restaurants, visits to the historic Anglo Boer Blockhouse, the fruit-packing co-op, furniture factory and many wine cellars where visitors can sample the product of the land!

Overall, Wolseley has a mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers days and cold wet winters.

The average summer (October to February) temperature is 29.7°C. To many March to April signal idyllic weather, summers heat subsides and the wind settles. Winter’s (May to July) temperatures range from 4.7°C lows at night and a comfortable 16.7°C in by day. However, with the onset of spring (from August to October), the fast-retreating winter merges with the summer sun, bringing forth some of the worlds most spectacular wild flower displays.
