Lowlands Country House, Fish River (near Cradock) is hosting a Karoo birding course from the 4th to the 6th May with highly competent and experienced guides Lynette Rudman and Jo Balmer.

Programme

FRIDAY

  • Arrive mid-afternoon and check into your accommodation.
  • Drinks and dinner 

SATURDAY

  • 6.30 am - Tea, coffee, rusks and muffins before going out on the farm for an early morning practical identification session.
  • 10 am - Brunch during which time there will be informal discussion about the morning ID session.
  • 11.00 am to 3pm: Theory including ID methods, conservation, birding protocol and etiquette, various forms of involvement in birding like atlasing, sound recording, keeping lists, twitching etc.
  • Afternoon tea and eats
  • 3.30 to dusk another session on the farm applying the theory.
  • Drinks and dinner
  • Star gazing and night drives for anyone who is keen 

SUNDAY

  • Early morning same as Saturday
  • Out on the farm until brunch at 11 am followed by a question and answer session. 

The course number is limited to 16 people so bookings will be on a first come first served basis.
